Open doors meditation group
Meditation relieves stress, increases mental clarity and wellbeing. Clinical studies have shown that meditation stimulates parts of the brain whose activity is associated with lowered stress response and decrease in anxiety. When practiced regularly meditation helps us to maintain our psychological and physical balance, and reduces the risk of many stress related illnesses such as heart disease, alzheimers, IBS, fibromyalgia, immune disregulation syndromes and cancer.

In this 13 week course students will be introduced to the core skills involved in learning to meditate:

Day 1: What Meditation Is: Type of meditation we practice and Practice itself
Day 2: What to do when your mind wonders
Day 3: Preliminary Attitudes and Set-up Exercises: Taking Refuge in the Triple Gem
Day 4: Preliminary Attitudes and Set-up Exercises: Universal Loving Friendliness
Day 5: Posture of meditation. What to Do with Your Body: Alignment
Day 6: Posture of meditation. What to Do with Your Body: Relaxation
Day 7: Posture of meditation. What to Do with Your Body: Resiliance
Day 7:
What to Do with Your Mind
Day 8: Dealing with Problems
Day 9: Dealing with Distractions
Day 10: Structuring your own meditation: Where to sit? When to sit? How long to sit?
Day 11: What meditation isn't
Day 12: Other types or meditation to explore: Sound meditation and mantras
Day 13: Visualization
